Spring is the time of the year when my neglected front porch finally gets some much needed attention. In the next week or two, I will be focusing on getting some long overdue porch projects completed.
I used paint I already had on hand from other projects. I decided to paint each piece a different color.
After the paint dried I sanded it to make it look more rustic. Then I stained it with a dark walnut stain. I sprayed the hardware and knob with an oil rubbed bronze spray paint. I just love this stuff!
You've heard the expression, "put a bird on it"? Well, here in Texas it is all about stars. We just have to "put a star on it!" I found these fun rusty stars at a yard sale for only a dollar! These stars typically cost a few dollars just for one. I wanted a darker look for the stars so I painted them with my good old oil rubbed bronze spray paint. (I told you I loved this stuff!)
So, tell me what you think. Are you ready to "put a star on it"?

Absolutely love the colors you used. It turned out great! (One question, did you paint on the stain with a brush or rub it in with a rag?) Thanks!
ReplyDeleteThank you for your sweet comments! I used a foam brush to paint it on then wiped off the stain with a rag.
